“Without emotion art is lifeless, without intellect it is shapeless.
Every artist dips her brush in her own soul, and paints her own nature into her pictures”
Gaye Pereira-Jackson (Boltong) is a self-confessed travel addict and self taught artist. Her first travel adventure many years ago, began in a Kombi van in Melbourne and ended in Holland (via Africa). In that overland trip, she covered thousands of kilometres, visited sixty-four countries, took hundreds of photographs and returned with armfuls of exciting memories!
Then with a young family, she moved to Asia as an expatriate. Gaye enjoyed her painting holidays in Spain, Tuscany and France which taught her the basics of using various art media to translate her feelings onto canvas and paper. After many years as an expat, Gaye retired and returned to Melbourne to spend time with her grandchildren, her garden, her art and the luxury of doing as she pleases!
Gaye still enjoys travelling to new places, having just returned from Alaska, Canada and the Caribbean. Her next trip was to Russia including a few days spent at the Hermitage in St Petersburg! She spends a lot of time in Bali as she considers that her spiritual home and the place to re-vitalise her inner soul and creative spirit.
Gaye has been running many Bali Painting Holidays where she takes like minded artists to Bali and introduces them to the culture, the people, and the fantastic places perfect for plein air painting. Gaye has been a member of Sunbury Art Society for many years and is currently the President of Hobsons Bay Art Society. She has had 4 successful solo art exhibitions and entered numerous local and regional art shows where she has received many awards for her work. Many of her paintings now hang in homes in Europe, America, Asia and here in Australia.
